My name is Bernd Malmqvist and I live and work in London, United Kingdom. I used to live in Berlin, Germany, but a new and exciting job, and to want to try a new challenge, brought me to London in 2013.
I am currently working as a Director running a Kubernetes Platform Engineering team at a global leading financial payment company based in London. In Berlin before moving to London in 2013 I worked as a Senior Network Engineer in one of Europe’s biggest online affiliate marketing company. My experience over the last 20 years includes starting as a Windows and Linux Systems Engineer to then move on working as a Senior Network Engineer for multi-vendor network infrastructures and now working as a Principal Kubernetes Platform Engineer specialised in distributed systems. At the moment I work with a fast growing and large scale Kubernetes and OpenShift infrastructure with the needs of security compliance, high performance and availability across multiple regions.
More than that I am passionate about music. I have been experimenting with electronic music production since I was 16 and have been collecting vinyls and DJ:ing for almost 24 years now in bars and clubs in Berlin. Just as the electronic scene has changed over the last 15 years, so has mine, going from techno in the 90s and early 00s to minimal and tech house today. Living in two cities with such vibrant music scenes as Berlin and London has influenced my music taste a lot.
